College of Music Overview
The College of Music was established in May 2015, obtained the master's degree conferral right in April 2018, and started enrolling postgraduate students in 2019. It has two master's programs: the first-level discipline master's program in 130100 Art Studies and the professional master's degree program in 135200 Music, featuring both academic and professional postgraduate training systems. As an important base for cultivating applied and theoretical music talents in Zhejiang Province, it has distinct school-running characteristics. Currently, it has 58 faculty members, including 52 professional teachers—34 of whom hold doctoral degrees—forming a young, promising and potential teaching team. The college boasts 5 national key courses and 7 provincial key courses. In 2022, it won 3 Second Prizes of the First National Excellent Textbooks and the First Prize of Zhejiang Provincial Excellent Teaching Achievements; in 2023, it won the Second Prize of National Excellent Teaching Achievements.

Chinese Music Research Direction
This direction covers fields such as Chinese music historiography, Chinese traditional music theory, and music temperament. Based on Chinese music history, it features Zhejiang's intangible cultural heritage (ICH) music and music temperament. Over the years, it has refined its disciplinary direction, gathered a teaching and research team in this field, and formed its own disciplinary characteristics and advantages.
Composition and Technical Theory Direction
This direction includes composition theory and creation, focusing on Western and Chinese traditional performance techniques, along with research and teaching of Chinese traditional techniques—especially those of ICH music. It emphasizes creation that absorbs ICH music elements and expands research on contemporary composition techniques.

Music Performance
Rooted in tradition, integrating Chinese and Western learning, and developing national music culture, this direction aims to cultivate high-level performing arts talents with systematic professional knowledge and high-level singing or playing abilities.
Music Education Direction
With education as the career orientation, it is committed to cultivating high-level specialized talents engaged in music education. It is the most professionally oriented direction in this field and the foundation of the discipline.
Music Creation Direction
Based on traditional composition techniques, it expands contemporary composition techniques, integrates creation, teaching and performance, combines theoretical research with creative practice, embraces diversity, and complements music art with modern technology. It aims to cultivate specialized talents in the field of composition.
